| 75th Anniversary Celebration Raises $150,000 for U.S. Eyeglass Program |
Attended by close to 200 friends of New Eyes for the Needy, the 75th Anniversary Gala -- "Hocus Focus" -- on October 20, 2007, at the Beacon Hill Club raised $150,000 to purchase prescription glasses for poor children and adults across the U.S. New Eyes honored Valerie Brackett, MD and Nikos Monoyios, CFA, for their commitment to improving the vision of the poor. Major sponsors of the event included: Nicholas J. Bouras; The Tianaderrah Foundation; The Vanguard Charitable Endowment Program and The Valerie Brackett and Nikolaos Monoyios Charitable Fund; Goldman, Sachs & Co.; and Bank of America. Fifty-five year volunteer Joan Daeschler received the inaugural Julia Lawrence Terry Award.
